Suicide

My Thought:
Do you know 500 000 people are going to commit suicide? Sure you did! Here are a few hints:
  • They work work for three major manufacturers.
  • The same manufacturers that need to cut costs to stay alive.
The unions of Ford GM and Chrysler are holding the knife. Not only to their own throats but the very fabric to the well being of this country and the world! Combined these companies produce over 10 billion dollars worth of services. They give countless grants, scholarships, community services. They were once the backbone of the auto industry and a leading examples of how to run a company. Alas, like the Roman Empire, they are being destroyed from within by their unions!

"We have given more than enough and refuse to give more..." If it were up to me I would do what Reagan did to the airport unions. Disband them! It would be a drastic step and probably hurt us in the short term, but not as much as these companies failing would hurt us!Once a service becomes vital to the security of this country no union should have the right to destroy it by demanding higher wages, refuse to sacrifice to survive, and demanding their company keep making the sacrifices!

Love Poem:

My Pretty Rose Tree
William Blake

A flower was offered to me: Such a flower as May never bore. But I said "I've a Pretty Rose-tree", And I passed the sweet flower o'er. Then I went to my Pretty Rose-tree: To tend her by day and by . But my Rose turned away with jealousy: And her thorns were my only delight.

Nothing Much

My Thought:
News is suppose to report the unusual, the uncommon , the rarities of life. What does it mean for us not as a country but as humans, when news only reports the good things. Has violence become so widespread and common it is no longer worthy of reporting? Just in the last decade more and more of the front page is dedicated to "good things" Blood bath? Try blood drive! Somebody ran over a child? Bottom of the page...maybe a footnote. Are we so jaded to no longer care to read about the atrocities that occur around us!

Not to complain about people wanting to read about the "good things"but we should never stop reading about the bad things. Not to know about violence is the same as inducing violence. Despite that popular saying ignorance is not bliss. To not know 60 percent of children under 6 went hungry this year is not going to help fix this problem! Not knowing that gunshots are so common in major cities that your next door neighbor is dieing of a gunshot wound in your living room and you not noticing is not going to fix the problem!

Should we only report bad then? No way! We need to know someone is trying to change the world. Someone still cares that violence should not be so common! We will always need a candle in the dark that is always certain. Please people demand more violence be shown in our news! Do NOT let it be so common to be left out!

Anecdote of the Day:

Robert Lee Frost (1874-1963)

Frost had just recited one of his poems and somebody asked:
"Mr. Frost can you explain that?"
He replied:
"What you want? Me to repeat it over and over in worse English?"

What the everyman should know?
If you build a metropolitan city, I don't know saaaayyy Vegas, in the middle of the desert your going to end up with water shortages! Just saying! In the desert not every person can, or SHOULD, own a pool and try to grow the greenest grass in the world. People! Common thinking solves many of the worlds "big"

Interesting Opinion:
"The existence of God

One does not have to believe the Bible nor the Koran n
or any other formalized scriptures of belief.

The simple fact of our existence in an astounding universe of unimaginable complexity points to a conscious act of creation, an artistic formulation of the laws of physics and an ever growing – ever more varied multiplicity of organic life.

From the moment of creation in the flames of an expanding universe it was evident that this is not chance nor is it a ‘father’ who created this in o
rder to be worshiped according to strict rules.

It rather is an artist giving free reign to his/her/their imagination and if they/he are not around anymore we still need to appreciate the sheer spectacle that was created, the open-ended capability of intelligence and consciousness that now resides in us.

It was offered without thought of commandments
nor with threats of punishment, it was simply offered open-ended for us to appreciate and enjoy or ruin, whatever our choice might be.

But if we fail then somewhere else in another time, on another planet or in a cloud of gas someone will succeed and at the end will attain the final price; to continue the tradition and create again.

Meanwhile our last chapter has not been written and as humanity struggles to escape the age of superstition and ‘fear of god –( god-fearing?)’ we are far off realizing our potential – mired in ancient fables and a blood-soaked history of brutality a
nd ignorance.

Go into nature and contemplate a rock and imagine the difference in consciousness of this rock to the flower growing next to it, witness the dash of a rabbit – the curious nose of the meerkat, look at the majestic undulations of a whale and listen to its mournful song; wander the forest and taste the silence of a patient being; speak to all of them and tell them you understand that they are part of you – intertwined in a complex dance of life, project your emotion at them – they will understand and so will God……

I do not totally agree but he makes interesting points! I dont think God created us for the sole purpose of him wanting to be worshiped! I feel that we were created to be his "company", a companion for the long run! I think he is still a large part of who we are and how we see ourselves now,`and in the future. We need the idea of someone greater watching over us! Later on the page it discusses evolution and how you cannot have both faith and science. In the Bible it does not say at what stage god starts life only he began life. It dosn't even say god created man. If you were to be given a literal translation of old Hebrew it would say..."And he gave life to man." Meaning we could have "evolved" and he gave us the gift of his "image".

Poem for Today:
First Kiss

Her eyes, beautiful and dark,
I take her hand, lead her through the park.

Along a path, through the trees,
I feel the cold, autumn breeze.

Everything slows down, as her other hand finds my cheek,
My eyes sparkle with love, my legs go weak.

Our lips press gently, the sun shines gold,
Drops of rain surround us, my heart is sold.
